Manjuyod National High School was founded on October 3, 1991 after signing and turning over of rights of central Negros Academy from heirs of Don Daniel Sycip through the chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Moises Sycip.
Central Negros Academy was primarily the only privately owned secondary school of Manjuyod serving students coming from the first District including Bais City. Great minds were molded in this institution inculcating love and respect of mentors who tried their best to cope with the demands of quality education.
But the clamor for a free secondary Education was more profound in the 1987 Constitution mandating the establishment of a free Education to all citizens. “Had it not been of the mutual burning desires of both Central Negros Academy and local government Executive headed by Hon. Mayor Jose “Petit” Baldado to give Manjuyoranons the service it best deserved, this institution wouldn’t have existed. For Mayor Petit Baldado, the establishment of Manjuyod High school was not handled to us in a silver platter. The realization was a result of a concerted and unselfish efforts of concerned government officials and of the highly commendable acts of the Sycips “in letting go” its control of a very noble undertaking.
Records reveal, from the files kept in the archives of Manjuyod high school, that on June 23 during the regular session of the Sangguniang Bayan, it has been legislated that the Local Government would convert Central Negros Academy into a Public Secondary School. In July 1991 Mayor Jose Baldado with the help of Mr. Lecerio Napao, who shared his expertise in processing the requirements needed of the institution as well as the blessing of Dr. Ofelia G. Garovillo, the schools Division Superintendent, for the establishment of Manjuyod High School funded by local funds.
To be exact, on October 3, 1991, Central Negros Academy (C.N.A) was converted into Manjuyod Municipal High school, a day chosen not by chance, but by intention for it is the death anniversary of the late Don Daniel Sycip. Due to Financial difficulties experienced by the Municipality that time, Mayor Petit Baldado, with the interventions of Cong. Jerome V. Paras, the Department of Education Culture and Sports Secretary, Isidro Caroño, Manjuyod Municipal High School became Manjuyod High School and was included in the national budget or the General Appropriation Act (GAA). During the transition period, Classes were conducted at the old C.N.A. building with 784 students. Mrs. Maxima C. Espirito was then the officer-In-charge. The teachers and staff of Central Negros Academy who were then Part of C.N.A’.s personnel were then absorbed in the new system.
In June 1992, full fledged Principal was installed into office, the late Mr. Constancio Medez the former Head Teacher of Demetrio L. Alviola High School Served only a year as Principal. In October of 1992 Mrs. Luz P. Buñol took over, a week later she left for Malaysia for a scholarship study grant for six months. Once again Manjuyod High School was managed by an officer in charged in the person of Mr. Lemuel B. Anfone. During his (Mr. Anfone) stint additional new buildings were being constructed, the SEDP and the PMS building were then put up at the new school site. On January 6, 1993 the SEDP building was inaugurated with 1,157 students.
Manjuyod High School has it own share of insufficient educational facilities, some classes were held under the trees where students had to bring their own chairs. In spite of the newly constructed buildings, the lack of classrooms is overwhelming; furniture is not adequate to meet the demands of the growing population of the school.
February 18, 1993 Mrs. Luz P. Buñol arrived from Penang, Malaysia and assumes her position as the Official School Administrator and served as the School Principal for seven years.
The School population continued to increase, new teachers were employed. On July 1998, Mrs. Luz P. Buñol left to assume as Secondary School Principal in Bais City High School. Once again Manjuyod High School was under the helm of Mr. Anfone as Officer In Charged. On December 15- 18, 1998 M.H.S. celebrated the C.N.A golden julilee, the significance of the engagement was adopted as the certified date for MHS founder’s day.
At the end of MNHS first decade of existence as an institution, enrollment soared up to 1,356 with its overwhelming pride of having a location conductive to learning and occupying a total land area of 20,661 square meters, in the midst of the increasing number of students, M.H.S teaching force has sustained to give their best for Manjuyod National High School.
